This is one of the most famous features of the Salazar Palace and akin to the Courtyard of la Acequia (Lower photo taken in 2008!!) at the Al Hambra in Granada, which I have to say I prefer, and thought to be the best preserved in the style of the medieval Persian garden.
The name, meaning "The Courtyard of the Maidens", refers to the legend that the Moors demanded 100 virgins every year as tribute from Christian kingdoms in Iberia.
