Tuesday 22nd January 2013 0GMT: At Sea En Route to Walvis Bay Namibia

As I write this posting it is 3.00pm on Tuesday 22nd Jan.  Its 88 F outside with an overcast sky and since leaving Banjul on Sunday evening we have sailed 740nm (Nautical Miles = 1.14 statute miles) and we still have 2400nm to go to reach Walvis Bay our next port of call – so 8 days at sea!!  My longest straight sail to date.

On Thursday 24th Jan at 12.00noon we will pass through Point 0.0 i.e. 0 Degrees Longitude and 0 degrees Latitude – the Greenwich Meridian and Equator respectively. Father Neptune will no doubt come aboard to greet landlubbers who have not crossed the Equator before and one thing is for certain the Captain is in for a very wet time!!
