Sunday 17th February 2013 +4hrs GMT Malé, Maldives The Fish Market

Back out into the steaming heat for a short walk to the local handicrafts market and another time to cool off and buy a hand carved owl to add to my collection and at last another porcelain fridge magnet of non-Chinese origin.

The last stop on the tour was to the busy fish market with an array of tuna, marlin, sea bass and many other fish that I was unable to identify.

By now it was raining hard and the effects of dehydration were really kicking in so I was relieved to get back to the ship via the tender and spent the rest of the day sleeping and gently rehydrating.  Thank goodness for Magners pear cider!!

In many ways I’m pleased that there has been some distance between visiting Malé and writing this posting because I have realised that I had viewed my visit through a fog of dehydration and that the tour had been much more interesting and rewarding than I had felt at the time.
