Tuesday 19th February 2013 +5.5 hrs GMT: India - Delhi & Hotel Le Meridien & Early to Bed

We touched down around 7.00pm and quickly found our Tour Guide, Dorrinder Singh – a Sikh – who had lived and worked extensively in England, Scotland and the USA and who had a fearsome sense of humour.  He proved to be a great mentor and guide.  I learnt too that all Sikh’s have the name Singh – its only their first name that varies.

On a clear evening we had an hour’s ride through Delhi arriving at the Hotel Le Meridien shorty after 9.00pm.  A quick freshen up in the room and down for another Indian buffet and then most of the group retired to bed in preparation for a 4.15am wake up call and 5.45am start to Aggra in the morning.

The hotel was some 18 storeys tall and built round a huge internal courtyard/atrium with wall climber lifts and fountains – see photo.

We were to have two nights very comfortable stay although the next day was to see us awake and on the move for some 20 hours.  You certainly need stamina for these cruises and adventures!
