The next stop was the Dhobi Ghat, an open-air laundry site. For 800 Rupees, about Pound Sterling you can have 100 items of any size collected, washed, dried and ironed and delivered back one-week later!! The laundry is first steamed and then washed in the traditional way by slapping it against stone. This open-air laundry remains very popular today and it is said that rarely do items get lost!!
