
Well I know nothing at all about the Temple at Luxor other than what is in the Cruise brochure so I will just have to fill in the detail when I get home and leave you with a series of photos.
The real magic of this visit was that it was as the sun was setting and the lights were coming on in the temple. Enjoy!
The temple of Luxor was once connected to the Temple at ‘Karnak’ via the Avenue of the Sphinxes – see photo – just under 2 miles long. Sadly today only remnants of this avenue exist. The temple was built by Amenthotep III in 1380 BC, close to the Nile and parallel with the riverbank and dedicated it to Amon-Re, King of the Gods, his consort Mut and their son Khons.
