Our lunch destination was the clear blue lagoons and waters of the Wadi Bani Khalid. Wadi means river valley. I never did discover if this was the source of a natural river spring but it made a beautiful spot for lunch. I didn’t go for a swim but Barbie dangled her feet in the clear blue water and the thousands of fish gave her a beauty treatment as they nibbled away. You can pay a lot of money to have this done at home!!
All too soon it was time to climb back into the vehicles for the return to Muscat. The other member of the foursome in the vehicle had been swimming and snored for 3 hours all the way back to port!!
Despite the problems our driver did get us back safely and without further mishap and when I gave him a tip – his face just broadened into a great big smile – of relief?! I should have mentioned that he didn’t speak any English so it had been a silent trip although the snoring must have driven him mad on the way back and Barbie, Chris and I had great fun in the back seat!!
I noticed that the cars were all hired – I’m not surprised given the revving and bashing they had taken during this 10 hours 600 mile marathon!
