Wednesday 27th February 2013 +4.0 hrs GMT: Dubai, United Arab Emirates The Corkscrew City

My half-day tour this afternoon was entitled ‘Modern Dubai with High Tea at eh Burj El Arab’.  Don’t misunderstand my earlier comments the buildings are spectacular and architects clearly compete with each other to design futuristic skyscrapers including the Burj Khalifa which dominates downtown Dubai.

I have chosen this photo to represent some of the best in design since it is the first building in the world that corkscrews through 90 degrees from its base to its summit.  I wish I could remember who owns this building and its purpose but the Guide pointed so many and rattled off the information at such speed that I hadn’t a hope of taking pictures and notes; neither do I have a guidebook so apologies for the lack of detail which I will endeavour to correct once back home.

A pretty iconic structure I am sure you will agree and tall but not the tallest in this city of giants.
